This was some of my assignments and happenings for today;
1.30am - baby cried, feed milk
3.45am - baby cried, change diaper
6.15am - baby cried, feed milk
6.45am - 9am - watch tv and look after baby at the same time, somewhere in between also feed milk
9+am - buy breakfast
11am - go bank make payment
2pm - go shopping alone to buy things for baby and wife
4pm - go home to have a look at baby
8pm - look after baby till she sleep
thats what i've been doing today.
That is usually what i have been doing lately too.
Are you ready to be a father? ;o
Even tough its exhausting but the happiness seem to offset the tiredness when I look at the baby. It's all good and I believe Reeda, Janshim and the rest of the father knows how it feels... Everything will change but its all good.

Welcome to the fathers' world, Jason. As for myself, my children are now 22, 19 and 14 and the assignments and challenges are quite different.
...congrats Jason...siok ah..Well i got a pair oredi, 5+ yrs old daughter and a 14mths son.
ya it's a new learning experience for me. many times we have to wake up late in the middle of the night to help feed and check on them but i guess when they are older its much easier. hmmm...so do you guys let your babies sleep on their chest? they seem more comfortable sleeping that sort of position but its really obvious they feel very comfy that way..
Parenting comes with a steep learning curve for everyone who's doing it the first time. Being a parent of two kids, it doesn't get easier with number two. My kids are 9 and 7 and are facing other challenges this phase of their lives. Challenges such as school and growing up.
Question of whether babies sleep better on their chest or back is somewhat controversial. Many SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) cases list babies sleeping on their chest as one possible cause
Check out "Sleep Positioning" in this article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sudden_infant_death_syndrome
Depending on your luck, you may catch more sleep than I did for the first three years. Yes, THREE years :). Both my kids habitually woke up at 5am and that's not including the feeding frenzy you have now experienced first hand. I wish I could give you a certificate just for that priceless experience but I'm no authority!
The bright side is that when they are little grown up, things do become easier. So there is light at the end of what appears to be a rather dark tunnel now (also dark because it's past midnight).
Years from now, you can join the ranks of my dads as we balance our careers and parenting and I've published an article here http://shimworld.wordpress.com/2007/04/19/stressed-out-dads/
Take care!
thanks for the post jan. very much appreciate the info. yes striking a balance on career and parenting is a challenge. i guess when they grow up we'll have to pamper them with what they want as well
