shoot now, focus later camera! its real!
check this out. this is one of the coolest tech in photography. this is the technology that i've been waiting for for almost 2 years but still it hasn't been integrated into our current cameras yet. There are such plans but it will require time for this technology to mature and becomes more affordable.
It's like 5 years ago, you go telling the die-hard film user something like this...
"there's a camera that doesn't use film and when the pictures were taken, it would be stored inside a chip(memory card) and then downloaded into a computer using a cable. one chip can store few hundred pix and a film can only store 36 exposure"
The die-hard film users would probably laugh and maybe don't believe or accept such things at the beginning.
Few months ago, i once told a professional photog that such technology would be integrated into our future systems. he seem like he did not accept what i say. I think i understand why...it takes time for people to adapt to BIG CHANGES.
Apparently when this shoot now and focus later technology was announced, manufacturer was actually complaining that they have to change the entire way they design and built their systems for this. Who won't right? Well, its like film switching to digital. If it happens, it will happen rapidly. Manufacturers will have to adapt to it when the consumer demands for it.
See shot above. The picture was taken as a single frame (one shutter click) but computed on a PC to generate 5 different frames. if you look from left to right, the girl on the left is in focus then when you move from the left to the right frames, the people at the back is in focus and now the girl on the left is out-of-focus (it's not blur, its out-of-focus). The software that comes with the camera can specifically tell where to focus at a later stage. Scary i know!
Apparently they have removed a lot of test shots and movies which was previously posted for preview.
Check Video Avi (74.4 MB) Uses XVid codec.

the world's largest telephoto lens
this is a real big mama! monster lens that weighs 256kg, custom built for a super damn rich guy. imagine how you have to handle something like this???
"This lens becomes the largest telephoto lens for non-military use anywhere in the world. The price hasn't been disclosed (although we've heard rumours) nor has the private owner, although some of the text on the lens is in Arabic and it carries a 'State of Qatar' emblem."
The range? 1700mm maximum opening at f4!
"At a focal length of 1700mm and a speed of f/4, this project even challenged the manufacture of the optical glass. The delicate, special glass types required for this unique design had never been cast before in such huge dimensions. Some of the resulting lens blanks weighed more than 25 kg (55 lbs.) and were valued more than a luxury sedan! Turning these blanks into the finished lens elements added even more to their value."
Ok now i take back my words when i was calling the 400mm f2.8 a big mama. I think the one i was carrying is merely half the size of this one. For a sense of scale, look at the picture below..
Maybe DC would like to give this a try for pre wedding? heeh i bet he would...im just wondering what sort of tripod we have to use to screw this big mama on! GITZOMONSTER? GIGA-MANFROTTO?
OK !magine this, i could stand at the portview restaurant or TAMBING where all the boats are coming in from kampong ayer and ask the wedding couples to stand at the other side of the river (at the kampong ayer) and ask them to pose for portrait shots. well a walkie-talkie would come in handy haha but it would be super-ridiculous. OK now imagine carrying this big mama onto the boat....i think the boat owner would be very worried that the boat would sink hohooo...

now shipping: flying cars!!
fly one of this soon? anyone could but you've gotta have the $$$$!!!
A quote by Henry Ford, Chairman, Ford Motor Company-1940
"Mark my word: A combination airplane and motorcar is coming. You may smile. But it will come..."
Minimum order of 25 units & it could be priced at USD200-500k each?
This thing can go 375MPH (that's really #$%# fast!)
I think i'm going to trade-in my Hyundai Tucson for this when China comes out with a replica version which will be more affordable hahaha! =O

roasted prawn or lobster?
it was a hectic week but i've managed to cover all 4 districts ... now friends said i looked like roasted prawn cos im all red! today was the final event. i was told by Anwar i could get sunburns after completing all the events but luckily i didn't. does it mean that i have thick skins? hoho maybe i've got elephant skins (bullet proof skins)! The 2nd last event was at KB and Liza accompanied us like a tour guide. Thanks to liza for the roti canai at wywy and all the short cuts which you bring me and tika thru. seriously, i can't remember any of the path you brought me if you ask me to use those roads again :O Liza asked me if KB could win this year's event. i told her i thought Tutong would win. The thing about KB is that the venue was not really as good. If i were to compare KB and Tutong i would say tutong wins. I think the pictures which was publish can actually tell. For BSB and tutong I say Tutong win as well. Of cos for the pushing and shoving, BSB is placed top. It was seriously over crowded.
i love aircraft so much. this are some interesting streams from u-tube

Kaitlin leong hold my fingers
apparently a lot of my friends do come to my blog and was requesting to see some more of my daughter's pic. This is one taken most recently when she was awake at late night playing by herself. she's so energetic sometimes. she could lift her heads up about 45 degrees when i put her laying down on her chest. I didnt think it would be possible for a new born baby to be so strong...
anyway thanks to zuraidah, walter, yvonne and many more friends who drop by here to view my blog
Happy 61st birthday to our king - His Majesty the Sultan of Brunei Darussalam
There's the big mama, 400mm f2.8 IS. I was busy snapping pix during the lineup of the RBAF and RBPF personnel on the field during the parade on His Majesty's 61st birthday at Taman Soas . Thanks to Pixels and Grain for this picture.
I think it was Hamsul if I didn't forget his name.
Thanks man.
Apparently this lens has attracted a lot of attention that even tourist and viewers outside the field requested me for picture taking - NOT I taking their pictures BUT THEY TAKE PICTURES OF ME WITH THE BIG MAMA and them :o Happened twice and once with Zadm.
What i feel about this lens?
good contrast, very sharp, no colour cast and very fast focusing, even on a 5D BUT TOO HEAVY and hard to handle on such events especially when I was carrying 2 bodies and other accessories on me and RUNNING AROUND. The other set was 5D + 70-200 f2.8 IS + 580EX speedlight and an additional lens 24-70 f2.8 (L) hung onto my belt inside a lowerpro case. I kinda missed some shots when switching from one system to the other due to the weight which was really slowing things down and this thing has to be attached to a monopod. Good pictures but making me clumsy. I could work faster and there's an even better option to this...what is it? its for me to know & for you to find out :o

transformed after watching transformer
Althought i was watching the dvd version which has silhoutte of people walking across the screen at the beginning, I still have to say woww its great movie! =o i've always liked transfomer when I was a kid, especially I love animations and cgi now. I remember collecting the toy last time. It was one of the favourite toy among my robots collection. I suppose most of the guys would love the movie. There's so much actions packed into this show. I really ought to watch it in the cinema when I have the chance! Next movie i'm looking forward to would be Oceans 13...lets see how it turns out

On duty
This was some of my assignments and happenings for today;
1.30am - baby cried, feed milk
3.45am - baby cried, change diaper
6.15am - baby cried, feed milk
6.45am - 9am - watch tv and look after baby at the same time, somewhere in between also feed milk
9+am - buy breakfast
11am - go bank make payment
2pm - go shopping alone to buy things for baby and wife
4pm - go home to have a look at baby
8pm - look after baby till she sleep
thats what i've been doing today.
That is usually what i have been doing lately too.
Are you ready to be a father? ;o
Even tough its exhausting but the happiness seem to offset the tiredness when I look at the baby. It's all good and I believe Reeda, Janshim and the rest of the father knows how it feels... Everything will change but its all good.
